Oregon farms noticing less labor available
MEDFORD, Ore. (KTVL) — In the Pacific Northwest the amount of farm workers fell 20 percent over the last four years.
According to this recent data by the National Agricultural Statistics Service, seasonal workers dropped 50 percent over that time. Steve Fry with Fry Family Farms said this is challenging going into the summer season. “This time of year we normally get a lot of people that walk in looking for jobs and this year I’ve only had one or two. It’s tight,” he said.
