ST. ALBANS, Vt. (AP) – Congressman Peter Welch is meeting with dairy farmers in St. Albans, Vermont, to discuss the challenges facing the industry.
Topics likely to be discussed are low milk prices, technology and how the Trump administration’s immigration plans will affect immigrant dairy farmworkers who are in the country illegally.
The roundtable discussion takes place Tuesday at the St. Albans Cooperative Creamery.
Welch is also holding a press conference in St. Albans on the impact of President Donald Trump’s proposed budget cuts to social safety nets such as food, domestic violence, weatherization and community action programs.
It’s part of a statewide touring Welch is doing this week to discuss the impact of Trump’s budget on Vermonters.
