(Washington, DC) – The Senate Agriculture, Nutrition, & Forestry Committee voted in favor to report the nomination of Governor Sonny Perdue to the full Senate for Confirmation this morning (Thursday).

With the vocal support of almost 700 national agriculture industry organizations and six former U.S. Department of Agriculture Secretaries, the Senate Agriculture Committee confirmed today that agriculture is not partisan.

“It’s important to note that the makeup of [the Senate Agriculture] Committee speaks directly to the size, reach and diversity of America’s agricultural sector and that reaching across the aisle is common practice within this Committee, where partisanship doesn’t get in the way of good solutions for American farmers, ranchers, and consumers,” said Governor Perdue during his Committee hearing.

“And to that end, if confirmed as the Secretary of Agriculture, I look forward to working with you … each of you … to find solutions to the challenges confronting American Agriculture
