This chartered bus tour was designed to connect you directly with fellow dairy owners and managers, as we will be visiting two dairy farms in northeast Wisconsin.  See and learn about the farm’s daily, short-and long-term management strategies revolving around reproduction goals, optimizing calf growth, genetics and overall production.  Advanced registration is required.
Farm Tours:

Synergy Family Dairy is located in Shawano County where they milk 285 cows.  They take pride in their home-bred, high genetic herd.  They focus on achieving exceptional growth of their calves gaining 2.25 – 2.5 pounds per day.  They recently improved pregnancy rates by over 5 percent.
Betley Family Farms milk 1700 dairy cows near Pulaski, Wis.  Learn how this herd averages over 100 pounds of milk per cow per day over five consecutive years.  By changing where the youngstock is raised, Betleys are able to grow a better heifer more economically.
Facilitated By:
Dr. Randy Shaver, UW Madison, will facilitate discussions with these two dairies as you get a closer look at farm management and practices.
